Made a chrome extension facilitates writing in foreign language

Windowsアプリとしてぼちぼち作っていたものを、パリへの展示旅行の最中に道中に、Chrome拡張にしてみました（＾＾）

Outline

"Foreign Language Pad" is an chrome extension that facilitates you to write sentences and check pronunciation in non native languages. Currently, when we write foreign sentences, we have to go back and forth between the web on which we compose sentences, a search engine and a machine translation service. Our thoughts tend to be interrupted and we can't concentrate on writing.

Foreign Language Pad enables you to stay on a web page and supports composing a foreign sentence.

How to use

Translate

Select a sentence with abbreviations of translation from/to languages. For example...
[English sentences to translate into Japanese]:en2ja
Press Ctrl+t. Then the sentence will be translated into the target language. At the same time, the sentence is reversely translated into the original language. In the example above, the original sentence translated into Japanese and then translated reversely into English.

Search

Select a sentence and press Ctrl+s then the number of web pages containing the sentence are shown in the work space and top 10 results are also shown. You may judge how much the sentence is supported based on expressions on the Web.

Pronounce

Select a sentence with abbreviation of the language to pronounce. For example...
[Japanese sentences]:ja
Press Ctrl+p. Then the sentence is pronounced.

外国語で文章を書く時に、文章を書いている場所と、辞書、検索エンジン、機械翻訳を行き来すると、思考が分断されてしまいがち。ひどいとウェブ閲覧の旅に出てしまいます（＾＾；さらに、検索エンジンや機械翻訳システムのように新しく調べたら前の結果がきれいさっぱりどこかへ行ってしまうというのも何だか…。

そんなこんなで、ひとつの環境で検索や翻訳サービスを利用できて、さらに発音までチェックできて、人の頭の中みたいに過去の結果も取り混ぜて切り貼りできて、あれこれ試行錯誤しながら文章を組み立てられる環境を作ってみました。

「動詞Vを修飾する副詞Advはこんなのがあるよー」みたいなのも検索結果から出せるようにしたいのですが、とりあえずminimal prototypeを。

第n言語(n>2)言語を覚えようとしている人には、より便利なんじゃないかな。たとえば、上の動画の例では「How are you?」のドイツ語を知りたいわけですが、日本語の「How are you?」ってそもそも何よ？ということで。手持ちの言語でブートストラッピングしながら文章を仕上げていく感じと言えばよいでしょうか。

散文すみません。。。もうちょっとコードを整理したり、アイコンを作るなどして公開します。

古くは母や私自身が楽に翻訳できないかなとプログラムを書いてみたり、卒論で訳語提示支援を考えてみたりといったところまでさかのぼるのですが、このブログの中でみつかったエントリーを懐かしいので貼っておきます（＾＾）
